A Simple Guide to Update Your Nokia 5230 Firmware
Mobile phone Firmware means OS (operating system) on your mobile phone with certain applications pre-installed. Firmware is stored in a mobile ROM (read only memory). The Firmware can be of different sizes for different phones to e.g. 50 MB for Nokia N70 and 120 mb for Nokia 5230. Every time a new phone released hardware that can be solved but there may be a number of problems with the software that may not come out during the initial testing and only realized after the phone enters the market.
Usually the problem is probably due to the application package, which can be resolved in a later version. There can be a performance issue that is, phone hardware cannot handle the load required to run the OS and applications can also be handled by optimizing firmware to OS. This phone also can indicate instability which restarted the phone or will be turned off on the grounds. This is due to the OS not fully complete.
New features will be added to your mobile phone with the updated firmware. Also update your firmware is recommended for application compatibility and to reduce security risks.
Previous firmware update is something like for Nokia with a geeky but now provides a set of tools makes it very simple. So there are three ways to update my Nokia 5230:
1. Give the phone to customer care.
2. Update using the Tools provided by Nokia.
3. FOTA (firmware over the air) update.
The first one is the best choice if your phone is under warranty period of 12 months. Give to the Nokia care center is free of charge during the warranty but may be charged once the warranty is over.
Nokia provides the Nokia software Updater as well as Ovi suite which can be used to update the phone. I recommend the Ovi Suite because there is a bug with the Nokia software updater as well as Ovi Suite support the application update separately. Just go to tools-update software and let the Ovi suite update checking. After the update found click install and follow the instructions on the screen.
Note: backup all your data; make sure the battery is fully charged.
Nokia new phones were introduced with FOTA. Type * # 0000 #, select options, and then click check for updates. The phone connects to the update server and whether the update found Nokia it will prompt to download and install. The main advantage of FOTA is that computers are not necessary and update will only get 10 MB size small.
